Recruitment at HM Land Registry

A spokesperson for the Land Registry stated that they employ 102 full-time equivalent assistant land registration lawyers in the land registration lawyers team.

The land registration lawyers team caseload has risen by about 20% since April 2020, prompting HM Land Registry to create their ‘Land Registration Academy’, whose focus is to provide training for new and existing caseworkers.

With their initial training taking up nine months, an Assistant Land Registrar's role includes handling complex, sensitive and contentious cases and complaints plus acting as ‘technical referee’ for caseworkers.

What appears to be a major recruitment drive at HM Land Registry is simply a ‘routine exercise’ to ensure the department has sufficient resources to meet customer need, the Gazette has been told.
